DOXYLOX OR

Description

A professional antibacterial drug from the latest generation of tetracyclines, in the form of an oral solution for commercial swine production and for poultry farming.

Doxylox OR is a transparent, light brown to dark brown viscous liquid.

Packing: 1000 mL plastic bottles or 5000 mL plastic canisters sealed with tamper-evident screw-on caps.

Pharmacological properties

Doxycycline belongs to the tetracycline antibiotics. It has a bacteriostatic effect on Grampositive and Gram-negative microorganisms, some protozoa, as well as on mycoplasma, including Escherichia coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylосоccus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Chlamydia spp., Listeria spp., Leptospira spp., and Mycoplasma spp.

Mode of action: doxycycline inhibits enzymes that act as catalysts for binding aminoacetylRNA to ribosomal acceptors, thus causing blocking of interactions between aminoacyltRNA with mRNA and disruption of microbial cell protein synthesis. The drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract of poultry and is rapidly distributed to all organs and tissues of the body. The effective blood concentration is reached in 2 to 4 hours and is maintained for 18 to 24 hours. The drug easily penetrates into most organs and tissues, it is metabolized in the liver to inactive metabolites and is mainly excreted with feces and urine.

Indications

Doxylox OR is prescribed for pigs and poultry to treat and prevent colibacillosis, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis, and staphylococcus infections, mycoplasmosis, chronic respiratory diseases of bacterial etiology, and other infections, caused by doxycyclinesensitive agents.

Dosage and route of administration
Animal species Indications Route of administration Dosage Treatment regimen
Pigs Infectious diseases caused by doxycycline-sensitive microorganisms Peroral 1 mL/10 kg

Restrictions

Pigs can be slaughtered for human consumption not earlier than 10 days, poultry – not earlier 6 days after the last administration of Doxylox OR. In the case of forced slaughter of animals before the established deadlines, the meat can be used for feeding fur-bearing animals. Avoid using the drug in laying hens as doxycycline accumulates in eggs.
